Restaurant Review: M Café

One hour lunch break means I’ve got limited options. Most people would be content with Westwood’s offerings for lunch but after having gone to school at UCLA for 4 years already, I’ve exhausted all of those offerings. Brentwood is by far my favorite adjacent neighborhood to wander into. Although it’s a little on the pricey side, the fresh fare makes for a refreshing change-up from our school’s student union center’s usual meal choice between Panda Express, Sbarro’s and Taco Bell.

Right in the middle of Brentwood village is a smaller version of the LA local chain of M Cafe de Chaya‘s, described as “contemporary macrobiotic cuisine.” What that is, I’ll never really understand but it’s supposed to be good for me?

My friend had the signature M Chopped Salad and I ordered a side portion of the salmon salad which came with crackers. Surprisingly not bad and actually very filling. We could resist getting fries of course, because what is health without a little guilty pleasure?

If you’re short on time and still want to be healthy, make the drive into Brentwood. It’s serene atmosphere is the perfect place to catch your breath during a hectic work day.

With much love,

Monnie
